noncoding RNAs
We
anticipate that bioinformatics-based discoveries of novel noncoding
RNAs will be complicated by the fact that some RNA classes will exhibit
substantially less primary sequence and secondary structure conservation
than others. Therefore, we are also working to develop experimental
approaches that will complement bioinformatics-based efforts. Using
these techniques we have identified many novel, candidate regulatory
RNAs. We anticipate the sum of these emerging data to expand our
understanding of global posttranscriptional regulation in Firmicutes and
improve our ability to search for novel regulatory RNAs and the
proteins that stabilize them.
