Arati Ramesh [B.S. St. Ann's College, Hyderabad, India; M.S. University of Pune, India; Ph.D. Texas A&M University (mentor: James C. Sacchettini, Ph.D.)]: "With a past in protein biochemistry/crystallography and a present in RNA structure/function, I could safely say that my broad (read "brooooooooaaaaaaad") scientific interests lie in all things protein and all things RNA. My current research is centered around signal-responsive protein-RNA interactions that control gene regulation. (...and someday...I also want to write a best-seller on "Minimizing your carbon footprint while doing research").

I'm en route to finishing my Ph.D. as a student at UT Southwestern Medical Center; however, I couldn't resist the magnetic pull to return to my roots in Maryland, where I will complete my graduate degree.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and am currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Recently, I relocated with the lab (read: "did the dirty work to set everything up") to continue my graduate work at the University of Maryland.

I graduated from the University of Chicago and began my graduate studies at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As the lab transitioned to Maryland, I decided to also transfer graduate programs to join the Biochemistry program at UMD.
